ETCH-17 is a lab made reactive etching solution designed to chemically alter surfaces instead of simply coating them. On many metals it reacts to produce a deep black finish. Where blackening isn't achieved, due to the type of metal, it aggressively promotes oxidation, creating a natural rust 12 hours after application.
The formula also reacts with mineral-based materials, chemically etching concrete, stone, and marble rather than leaving behind a surface coating. Built around an industrial acid system, ETCH**17 permanently changes the material itself.
